Our ship crashed months ago and those of us left are struggling to survive the boiling heat in barbaric living conditions. The only reason we're not all dead is one of my friends got knocked up by a native alien and he lets us live in his ruined city. We should be grateful but a lot of the humans hate the dragons and the girls who mate with them.
The natives are huge, seven foot tall dragon-men with wings and tails and scales. Surly and overly protective, who needs that? Not me. Alien baby fever is the new in thing, but I'm not falling for the hype. I've always survived being alone and I don't need anyone to change that. Try telling that to Shidan, the most annoyingly persistent alien male around.
Thanks to the primitive nature of the destroyed planet, we have no idea what's happening when things go wrong with my friend's pregnancy. I'm sure I can salvage something from our crashed ship that will help, but to get there I'll have to leave the city's protection and go out in the sweltering heat where everything wants to kill me. The only way I'll survive is if Shidan comes too and he's made it clear he wants only one thing. Love.

There is a lot of stuff going on in the domed city in this book. There is trouble with the power grid, supplies are running low, two uncertain pregnancies, pirates, and tension rising among the human population. This book is Amara and Shidan's Story. Amara was a fighter pilot on the colony ship, but now is trying to do engineering projects, thought the only ma chine she every wor ked on was her plane/ship. Shidan is one of the younger dragons, he never got a designation like soldier or councilman prior to the destruction on their planet. Shidan is a fairly happy, easy going dragon, who takes an instant like to Amara. Unfortunately, Amara is an insecure, bitchy woman that hates being on this planet, but she was pretty bitchy on the ship too. It seems that anything Shidan tries to do to help her backfires and she takes it out on him, loudly and sometimes publicly. It isn't until almost the very end that she realizes what an idiot she is. She and Shidan seem to work things out after they are forced to rely on each other to get away from a bunch of pirates. Yes, a happy ending, but not much fun getting there. I enjoyed the details of the places they go and what gets done, but I think Amara's bad attitude really brings the story down, until she finally gets a grip and starts trusting Shidan, and treating him nicer. I think the storyline is good, just wish it could have been tamped down a bit on the bitchy bad attitude.Product details

Oh,my gawd! How freakin' awesome was that? I was balling like a baby by the end. No one ever said falling in love was easy. But poor Shidan; Amara certainly put him through the wringer before she realized that falling in love doesn't make you weak. Love makes you both that much stronger! But what a coming together did those two have! Lots of sexy romps in the sand and a surprise at the end. Loved it!
I could not tell you how much I love this book period she is definitely become one of my favorite authors the both of them. Seeing how she brings stories to life from reality women who are strong and independent two men who try to love them and want to be accepted also while being strong and independent on their own. She writes stories about the Journey of love and where if you just take a leap of faith it can lead you. This is definitely a page-turner enjoy it.
I didn't like this one as much as the first two. Amara was pretty much a bitch to Shidan through most of the book. Because of her own insecurities. The first two were much more enjoyable. I hope the next one is more like the first two.
I found this one to be a little different. It was mainly about the main female character and mental struggles with herself. Couldn't help but be annoyed with her and how she would belittle, attack, or hit the poor alien just because she was frustrated and would justify it or think nothing wrong of it. Wish that part didn't exist and the rest was toned down a bit. No matter how much I tried to push myself to read hoping things would change I just couldn't like her.
I liked the other two books much better than this one. While these books remind me a LOT of Ice Planer Barbarians, I don't like the protagonists as much. This book, while still good as a SFR, could be a lot better.
In this book, Amara is as hateful as she can possibly be to everyone. She is also having a screaming tantrum every 5 minutes. I feel sorry for Shidan. He can do so much better. I was hoping she'd get eaten by a Zmajli(giant worm from Dune or per these books, Tremors). Also, seeing as there are only 32% females left, there should be more human men in rolls rather than as just giving a nod to their existence. The way these are written it seems like there are only a few men and mostly women.
Positives I am glad we get to see more of the planet. The dragon men are smokin' hot. The editing is pretty good.
I almost didn't read this book because I read the other reviews first. In the end, I decided to trust the author's writing since I have always loved it before. Amara has reasons for the way she is. Yes she is a strong, independent woman who doesn't rely on others. That's because she was a pilot in a male dominated field. Any weakness that she showed would come back to hurt her. I loved Shidan who recognized and loved Amara just the way she was. Shidan has trouble communicating with Amara which contributes to the tension in the story. It's not just the language barrier but also his tendency to not explain his comments and actions to her. I loved that this wasn't strictly a love at first sight book. I really got to know the characters and was rooting for them all the way.
Amara is the ships pilot but she is now acting as a mechanic. She accidentally meets Shidan while outside the city looking for a conduit to try to get more electricity for the city and he was fighting another alien dragon over her. However, Shidan really falls for her and tries like hell to get her to like him. But it won't be easy because she has a chip on her shoulder and wants to keep all men away from her. However, she and Shidan are really the only ones who can get some of the things that they need for them and their friends in the city to survive. With some of the girls pregnant and Calista having her baby any time now they need to find medical supplies and run into the pirates. So now they have to fight for their own survival to get the supplies and themselves back to the city. Things are really getting exciting on the planet and the romance is in full swing. I can't stop reading the books. Definitely a great series.
